30/1: U14 LC: Blarney 2, Youghal 1

In an evenly matched contest, Blarney U14s came out the winners in their local cup tie with higher ranked Youghal. Youghal came into the game with a strong pedigree from their higher placed league but an opening 30 yard shot from Keith put the visitors on the back foot. Youghal regrouped and were unlucky not to score when their centre forward beat Blarney's on - rushing defenders but slid the ball wide of Cian's right hand post. Youghal got a deserved equaliser before the break with a move that started with their right back and finished with the ball clung into the bottom corner. A rash challenge from the Youghal's left back led to a free kick from well outside the 18 yard box. Up stepped Lorcan and with a looping right footed shot he nestled the ball high into the left corner of the Youghal net. Try as they did, Youghal were unable to get an equaliser and with some stout defending from Mark and Keith, Blarney held out for their 2-1 victory to advance to the next LC round.

28th Nov: U14 Divn 3 Macroom 3, Blarney 2, Ger Lynch

Despite a goal each from James and Eoin, the hugely depleted 95s were pipped at the post by a dogged Macroom. Short 5 players (through injury and sickness), the 95s went ahead twice on a bitterly cold morning in Macroom, but tiredness and the cold got the better of the 95s conceding 2 goals in the last 10 minutes. In fairness this was a tremendous performance by the 95s who played wonderful football. Despite having to play with just 10 men for a long period, it was Macroom's large bench that won the game, bringing on fresh legs and adventurous attacks.
