Blarney's Seniors advanced to the 4th round of the FAI Intermediate Cup thanks to an 85th minute header from Alan Weldon. The diving header came at the end of 25 minutes of sustained pressure from Blarney. Greystones had gone down to 10 men after the centre half was sent off early in the second half. Despite the numerical advantage Blarney found it increasingly difficult to get the final decisive touch, despite numerous headers. However it was Wellie's contagiously determined diving header that brought home the deserved win.
