Cork Schoolboys Cup - College Corinthians v Blarney U12As

Thu, May 7th:

U12 Cup Final Blarney U12s 1, College Corinthians 2, Turners Cross

Our U12s lost out to College Corinthians on Thursday night in the U12 Cup Final in Turners Cross, losing 2-1 after extra time. With the aid of a strong wind and playing excellent football, Corinthians dominated the first half. They got a deserved lead on the stroke of half time after a sustained period of pressure. Blarney regrouped at half time and pulled themselves back into the game. Wave, after wave of attack led to a Keneth Bowdren equaliser, struck sweetly on the volley from 20 yards out to beat the Corinthians net minder. Blarney continued to dominate and were unlucky not to get their second just before the end of regular time. Extra time was a nervy affair, neither side wishing to concede but the deadlock was broken in the first period of extra time. Blarney tried and tried to get the equaliser but it was not to be. Heart break for Blarney but undoubtedly, if they stick to their task then they'll be back for more next year. A special word of thanks to all those who came out to support the lads. Your shouting and hollering was greatly appreciated.
