FAI SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOL IN BLARNEY

JULY 14-18

For the 5th consecutive year, Blarney United will host an FAI Summer Soccer School in O'Shea Park. Cost is €99 per child. One change this year is that there will be no "walk -ons" permitted. So my advise is to book early since the club will be unable to add extra children once the camp is full. The only method for booking is via the FAI website www.fai.ie or via the call centre on 1890-653653.

16/Feb: U11 Local Cup: Blarney U11As v Riverstown, O'Shea Park

Blarney U11As may consider themselves unlucky to have had to go to penalties in this game and should have put the game beyond reach in the first 20 minutes of the game. Unfortunately however, the under strength 96s could not find the net and allowed Riverstown to get back into the match. Half way through the second half Blarney eventually capitalised on their possession and scored with a magnificent strike from Sean O'D. However, with just a minute to go in normal time, Riverstown got a deserved equalizer throwing the game into extra time. Despite good chances from both sides, neither could shake the important part of the net and hence the dreaded penalty shoot out ensued. Blarney were immediately on the back foot when they failed to convert their penalty and Riverstown did. But they steadied the ship and eventually won 5-3 on penos.
