FAI SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOL IN BLARNEY

JULY 14-18

For the 5th consecutive year, Blarney United will host an FAI Summer Soccer School in O'Shea Park. Cost is €99 per child. One change this year is that there will be no "walk -ons" permitted. So my advise is to book early since the club will be unable to add extra children once the camp is full. The only method for booking is via the FAI website www.fai.ie or via the call centre on 1890-653653.

Nov 11th: Munster Snr Cup, R2- Blarney SenAs 2, Tramore Ath 0.

A goal each from John Hogan and Danny Corkery was enough to see Blarney's Senior team advance to the 3rd round of the Lucozade Sports Munster Senior cup.

Blarney United reached the third round of the Munster Senior Cup, following a 2-0 win over Tramore Athletic at O’Shea Park. Blarney lined out without the services of skipper Ray O’Leary - on duty with the Munster Senior League in Donegal, and Edwin Buckley and Jeremy O’Sullivan who were both rested. The best chance of the opening exchanges fell to the visitor’s - but Paul Collins reacted brilliantly to keep the home side’s goal intact. Blarney’s early efforts were confined to long-range off target efforts from the industrious John Hogan. But Hogan adjusted his sights to hit the jackpot from thirty yards on the half hour mark. Tramore respond immediately forcing Collins to produce two further top drawer saves in as many minutes. Blarney almost grabbed a second goal on the stroke of half time, when Danny Corkery and Andrew Sang just failed to reach Dermot Crowley’s superb cross. The second half began with Tramore on the offensive; Derek Swaine in particular was causing problems for the Blarney back four. Blarney introduced Dave Moyinhan in the 60th minute, and his presence seen United take control in midfield. They sealed the tie with a second goal with ten minutes remaining. Fittingly it was Danny Corkery, who worked tirelessly throughout who scored from short range. While it was far from a sparkling performance – Blarney will be pleased to get a win under their belt, as they prepare for next Sunday’s FAI Intermediate Cup tie with Carrigaline United.
