Oct 27th: Keane Cup Final: Blarney 0, Everton 1, Turners Cross.

Blarney's seniors lost out on the first silver wear of the season on Friday night when they lost 1-0 to Everton in the Keane Cup final in Turners Cross. Everton started the game well and peppered Collins' goal for the first 20 minutes with long range shots. Paul, ever alert, handled the challenges well. Everton continued to apply pressure throughout the first half but could not get the vital break through. Blarney had the best of the second half with excellent chances from Edmund, Ray, Jeremy and co. Against the run of play it was however Everton that got the vital break through. After defending for most of the second half and with just 7 minutes to go, Everton got a corner. Taking it short, Everton worked the ball to the edge of the middle where an Don Horan slotted the ball home. It was a killer blow for Blarney who had fought so hard. Try as they did, Blarney could not get the equaliser. Even up to the two minutes into injury time, Everton somehow managed to the clear their line as Blarney piled on the pressure. Final score: Everton 1, Blarney 0.
