Sun, Oct 15th 2006:

A single penalty was all that separated the score line between Blarney's U17 and Leeside Knockraha on Sunday in O'Shea Park. Blarney were by far the stronger team on the day and Dean Winters in the Blarney goal hardly had a shot to save. In all, Blarney had 30 shots with 20 on target, giving the Leeside Knockraha net minder, Taidgh O'Leary a busy afternoon. It was however a penalty the separated the sides. The penalty came on 60 minutes when the Leeside Knockraha defender was adjudged to have handled the ball in his own area. Brendan Walsh calmly stroked the ball passed O'Leary. O'Leary had, however a good afternoon between the posts saving up to eight one on ones against Blarney's attack. Blarney deserved the win and go on now to the 3rd round of the FAI Intermediate Cup.
