U12s teams from Blarney, Ballincollig, Douglas Hall, Rockmount and also Woolston Rovers (from Warrington, near Manchester in England) took part in this tournament hosted by Blarney United in O'Shea Park on 29/8/05. 

There was a big turnout on the day with players, managers and supporters from all the clubs helping out. This was the second such tournament to be held in Blarney and we were delighted to welcome back our friends from Woolston. Earlier in the year, Blarney had traveled over to Manchester so every effort was made to return the hospitality.

Each team had a minimum of 2 matches. Blarney, Woolston, Ballincollig and Douglas Hall got through to semi - finals. Ballincollig got through to the final but Blarney and Woolston could only be separated by a penalty shootout. Woolston held their nerve and proceeded into the final meeting a very strong Ballincollig team. Ballincollig emerged  the eventual winners whilst Blarney won the plate final.

After the tournament we retired to The Castle Hotel for a cleansing libation. Many of the adults were very well cleansed which was not the best preparation for the 7 - a - side blitz the following day.

In the blitz, each team was made up of both Blarney and Woolston lads. Each team played 5 games. The Green Machine went on to win collecting all 15 points on offer. One remarkable goal was that scored by Big Brian who scored a cracker. Unfortunately, he was the ref so it didn't count. 

After the blitz we all headed off down to the Blarney Park Hotel for a BBQ / disco. A great night was had by all and we were delighted to present Stephen Cansdale with the "Most Improved Player" award.

Weekends like this can only take place with the help and support of a great many people. At risk of leaving some very important people out, special thanks is due to Tom and Jason, David Sykes, Tim Crowley, Jim - Bob, Anna and Ellen Murray, Tim and Helen O'Connor, the sandwich / cake makers (including Ber and Theresa), Brian Murray, Pat Ring, Pat Lyons, etc, etc. My apologies for leaving some people out, but you know who you are.
