FAI SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOL IN BLARNEY

JULY 14-18

For the 5th consecutive year, Blarney United will host an FAI Summer Soccer School in O'Shea Park. Cost is €99 per child. One change this year is that there will be no "walk -ons" permitted. So my advise is to book early since the club will be unable to add extra children once the camp is full. The only method for booking is via the FAI website www.fai.ie or via the call centre on 1890-653653.

The Under 11Bs get together for a last hurrah of the season.

2 * Garry and Ger got the 96Bs together in O'Shea Park for an end of season last hurrah in O'Shea Park on Saturday, April 19th. In fairness the 96Bs may not have had the season they wanted but with their numbers increasing all the time, it shows to all that there is nothing wrong with the ambition of playing a bit of football. Well done to all, enjoy the summer. See photo album for photos.

Team of the Month

Blarney's SenA team has been awarded the Beamish & Crawford Team of the Month award by the Munster Senior League. This award is in recognition of their recent achievements winning 5 and drawing 1 of their last 6 matches. Great results and an outstanding turn around in the season! With just 2 league games left in this season, the SenAs next face Castleview in O'Sullivan Park on Thursday, April 24th in the O'Connell Cup.

Vincent Butler's Republic of Ireland under 16 side were defeated 1-0 by a strong German outfit in Blarney tonight (Tuesday.) Hertha Berlin striker, Abu-Bakarr Kargbo got the winning goal on the stroke of half-time in front of a 1,500-strong crowd at O'Shea Park at Blarney United. See photo album for pictures.

10 week Soccer Sisters Programme Kicks OFF in Blarney

An FAI ‘Soccer Sisters’ programme kicked off in Blarney's O'Shea Park on Fri Mar 7th. The programme aims to increase the number of young girls playing soccer throughout Ireland. Focussing on girls aged between 7 and 12 years of age, the emphasis of the programme is on introducing the girls to basic movement and soccer skills in a fun environment. The programme kicked in a major way with more than 50 girls attending. The programme will continue  every Friday night (6:00pm to 7:00pm) for the next 10 weeks in O'Shea Park. There are still some places left so if you would like to  join in then just pop down to O'Shea Park on Friday evenings.

For any further details contact the programme coordinator: Don Walshe - 087-3848717.

FAI Summer Soccer School in Blarney - July 14th -18th

For the fifth year in a row, Blarney United will host the FAI Summer Soccer School in O'Shea Park, Blarney. The camp was an outstanding success last year and great value for money. The feedback from players, parents and coaches was very positive and we plan to repeat that success this year. The Blarney camp will take place from Monday, July 14th through to Friday, July 18th. Please note that the number of places is limited to 100. The FAI will strictly enforce this limit. Also, this year, no walk-ons will be allowed. So, in order to avoid disappointment, please book your place via the FAI link or via the call centre on 1890-653 653. Unfortunately no other method of booking is permitted but if you would like some further information then please contact Don Walshe on 087-3848717.

2nd Apr, 2008: Girls Winter Training Camp

Last weekend Blarney hosted the inaugural series of games between the Girls Winter Training Programmes from across Munster. The FAI Winter Training Programme is an elite programme designed to further develop talented young female players. There were sides from Cork, Waterford, Tipperary and Kerry in action over the two days at various age levels. The standard was high with the rain failing to dampen the enthusiasm of the players. Many of the players on view will certainly go on to play in the prestigious Gaynor Cup this year and their Blarney experience will undoubtedly stand to them. See photo album for more details.

Sat, 23/Feb: MSL Snr Prem: Castleview 1, Blarney SenAs 2, O'Sullivan Park, 2:00pm

Blarney United moved out of the relegation zone with a valuable 2-1 win over Castleview in the Beamish Stout Premier Division. Alan Healy scored for Castleview but two goals from Ray O'Leary, including an 18 - yard control and volley saw Blarney leapfrog Everton in the table. See Seniors page for details.

Sat, Feb 16th: U13 Local Cup: Blarney U13Bs 1, Wilton Utd A 3

Blarney's U13As and Wilton took to the field on Saturday in the first round of the Local Cup. Both sides have been struggling to gain points in the league  and it was an opportunity for both sides to show their metal. See U13Bs page for details or photo album for pictures..

2/Feb: U13 National Cup - Last 32: Blarney U13As 0, Corofin 1, O'Shea Park. P. Walsh, 2:00pm

The U13s bowed out of the last 32 on Saturday being beaten by a very impressive Corofin outfit. With many of the Corofin team on the Kennedy Cup squad, Blarney were always going to be up against it. But on the day the 94As did well and were only beaten by an outstanding goal from the Corofin midfielder. We would like to thank all of the supporters who turned up on the day and we wish Corofin the best of luck as they progress to the last 16. See photo album for pics.
